The Minnewaska Area School District evolved in l991 with the building and opening of a new high school for grades 7-12 midway between Starbuck and Glenwood on State Highway 28. Students from the old Glenwood, Villard, and Starbuck districts make up the larger district. The Minnewaska Area School District has a broad geographic area, serving about three-fourths of Pope County. It serves the cities of Glenwood, Starbuck, Villard, Lowry, and the Sedan and Terrace areas, as well as some families with Cyrus addresses. The District has approximately 1170 students in grades ECFE/Pre-School through 12.
The Minnewaska Area Schools website provides further information about the schools, educational programs, and activities available in the District.
